Description

Bethel was contracted to conduct a soil investigation at nine distinct sites on Eielson AFB in support of future construction of F-35 facilities by others. The investigation is an environmental baseline survey with extensive sampling for a broad range of contaminants from multiple sources. Contaminants include POLs, PAHs, VOCs, PFCs (PFOS/PFOA), PCBs, metals, and pesticides.

Bethel employed direct push technology to conduct soil screening using an Ultraviolet Optical Screening Tool (UVOST) and collected soil core for analytical sampling as a means to suitably characterize each of the sites.

The purpose of this baseline study is to enable the USACE to estimate the quantity of potentially contaminated soil which may require removal and disposal in conjunction with the future construction of F-35 facilities.
